Submissions to 2th Zsigmond Vilmos Film Festival closed on 28th February with 400 valid applications from every corner of the world. We received most nominations from European countries, besides, many films were submitted from distant countries whoose cinema has not yet been showed in Hungary.
We announced five categories, such as feature films, short films, experimental films, documentaries and animations. The vast majority of applications are short films indicating that Zsigmond Vilmos Film Festival of Szeged is already popular among young, career entrant moviemakers.
After a pre-selection of applications being about 200 hours of movies pre-selection comittee suggested movies being about 24 hours for the competition. They also commended an other 12 hours of movie for an out-of-competition screening.

WE OPEN OUR FESTIVAL ON 9TH MAY WITH SHOWING A MOVIE ENTITLED ON BODY AND SOUL DIRECTED BY ILDIKÓ ENYEDI
Beyond the competition program we have several side-events in the following days. We offer a workshop with James Chressanthis, as well as a commemoration screening of a portrait about György Illés, a former teacher of Vilmos Zsigmond.
Film Department of University of Theatre and Film Arts introduces itself with the leading of director János Szász, and two similar festivals, European Film Festival of Palics and Malter-Vándor Film Festival will be our guests as well.
