MORE THAN 300 FILMS SUBMITTED TO THIS YEAR'S FESTIVAL

In May 2019, the third edition of the Zsigmond Vilmos International Film Festival will take place in Szeged, where the Academy Award winning cinematographer was born. The festival, with a focus on cinematography, invited filmmakers to submit films in three categories: in feature films, experimental films and shorts. We have received more than 300 submissions, most of them from Europe, with a large number of films coming from Portugal, Belgium, China and Germany, but there are entries from almost every corner of the world, from Italy to Vietnam, from Chile to Norway.

Compared to the previous two festivals, the number of feature films has increased significantly to 59 submissions: 43 films were submitted from abroad and 16 films from Hungary, many of them festival winners already. We can clearly see that more and more filmmakers in Europe and around the world know about the Zsigmond Vilmos International Film Festival.

Now a pre-selection jury will choose the films for the competition programme of the festival. This jury includes not only well-known film professionals such as producer András Monory Mész, director Gábor Ferenczi and cinematographer Zoltán Lovasi, but young filmmakers such as director István Kovács and cinematographer Zoltán Dévényi, too, who worked together on the award-winning short film A Siege.

The list of the films in competition will be published on our site on 18 March 2019.
